Tennis is my favourite sport. You may wonder how someone in a wheelchair can play tennis. It is a lot easier than you think. I love it!
Summer is here and my favourite thing to do now the sun is shining is to play tennis! Now you might be wondering how someone in a wheelchair can play tennis, well it is a lot easier and a lot more fun than you would think. I have a special wheelchair with a fifth wheel at the back, which stops me from tipping over in my chair when I go to hit the ball. I love it! My tennis teacher says I have very strong arms, and because I am so used to trying to beat everyone racing around the playground, I am pretty fast at hitting the ball.
Some people think that just because I am in a wheelchair I am not the same as everyone else. The most important thing I want everyone to know is that I am just as normal as all of you. I have lots of friends, I love playing tennis, I hate maths and when I'm tired, I sometimes have fights with my sister. As I am in a wheelchair, people in my school, even the really wild boys in the top class who everyone is scared of like me, stand up for me. We have a lot of fun.
