I could do with some inspiration
I came downstairs to turn on the TV. Dad looked at me and said, ‘what’s wrong with you?’ I told him how I didn’t feel like doing anything. I thought Dad would be angry at me, but he wasn’t. He suggested we watch the TV programme on about famous Olympic athletes. I shrugged and sat down even though it sounded boring.
But it was really ace! Some of the best Olympians the world has ever seen were on TV. Mark Spitz is a swimmer who won 7 gold medals at the 1972 Olympics! His nickname is ‘Mark the Shark’! Nadia Comaneci was the first gymnast EVER to be awarded a perfect score of 10 at the 1976 Olympics. Guess what? She was only 14 then! The same age as me! I wish there was Olympic skateboarding!
I turned to Dad and said I wished I had the push those athletes have. I feel like I just don’t have the motivation…to do anything. Where do you get it from? How do you go from sitting on the sofa to being the best of the best? Dad said that I’ve got to find a goal, and stick to it. He said that ‘nothing beats the feeling of achieving something’.
That got me thinking. Do you remember when I fought to get my local council to keep the skate park open? It was brill to make a real difference for all the kids who needed somewhere to skate (including me!) I just need to think what else I am just as passionate about? I’m a Go-Giver who needs to find something to give!
Have you ever done anything to make a difference in your school or community? Do you have any ideas for me? I could do with some inspiration. Send me a comment to let me know!
