My name is Mitali, I am 6 years old.
My Grandma usually looks after me. Like the rest of my family, I’m a Hindu. Mitali is a Hindu name which means 'friend'.
Sometimes I think I’m too chubby and sometimes I don't sleep well because I worry about being bullied.
I like to show off my Indian dancing, especially at parties with my cousins.
My teacher has started using the Kindness Tree with us in class. I really want to get up on the branches! Some of the other kids in my class are already up there. Last week, my teacher told us that anti-bullying week was coming up, and that maybe we could perform an act of kindness that was related to that. I thought really hard about it and then, all of a sudden, I had the best idea! A cake sale! This was perfect. I get to bake, which I love, I got to help stop bullying, which is important to me because I have been bullied, and I might just get onto the kindness tree!
I had it all planned out. Pupils and parents at the school would all bake cakes, biscuits, and other tasty snacks, and then we would gather them all up together in the hall, and invite members of the community in to buy them at a fundraising cake sale, with all of the profits (the money we didn't spend on the ingredients) going to ChildLine, a charity that supports children with all sorts of sad problems.
It was a great success! All sorts of unlikely people pitched in, and everybody had a great time. We raised loads of money for ChildLine, and hopefully we made a difference in helping the lives of children who are being bullied, or worse.
And the best part is, my teacher put me right at the top of the Kindness Tree - fantastic!
