My name is Pete, I am 9 years old.
My favourite game is 'IT‘ and I’m into board games and computer games. I like to be with my friends because I get lonely on my own.
I like school but I hate maths because it confuses me.
Sometimes I worry about being teased.
Spotty Saturday

Wow! The Easter holidays have gone by really quickly! Mum and I went on holiday to Saltburn. This is a town in the North East of England. I played in the sand, on the arcade games and ate fish and chips by the sea! Mum and I even went on a really cool cliff lift which was made in Victorian times! Fun, fun, fun!

We got back home on Wednesday. The next day I felt rotten. I had a bad headache and a horrid cold. It’s a good job I ate all those fish and chips on holiday because I felt too sick to eat anything!

I get poorly quite a lot. This makes Mum worry. On Saturday Mum found a spotty rash on my arms and legs. She thought I might have measles, which can make you very ill.

Mum told me that I had been given an injection as a baby to protect me against measles. She used the word ‘vaccination’, which means the same as injection. Mum still wanted to get my rash checked by a doctor, just in case it was serious, so she rushed me to hospital.

Thankfully, the next day Dr Thompson told me that blood tests showed I didn’t have measles after all! I had a bad virus and needed lots of rest. So after spotty Saturday I had a spotty, sneezy Sunday! Mum was really happy and it made me sad that she had got so worried.

The vaccination for measles is called MMR. Did you know that it protects you against 3 illnesses at once!? The first ‘M’ stands for measles. Do you know what the second ‘M’ and ‘R’ stand for?

Mums and Dads can decide whether or not to give their children this injection. Lots of doctors think that every child should have it, so they can avoid catching the illness when they’re older.
